Job description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Rio Grande Valley Sector, Mission Readiness Operations Directorate, Fleet Department, located in McAllen, TX. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

FOR GS-07: Experience:

You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assisting higher-graded specialists with the agency's property management program to include acquisition, receiving, transferring, excessing, reutilization, repairing, and retiring of various types of property. Aiding higher-graded specialists with the purchasing of office supplies, equipment, services, etc. using a government purchase card. Performing basic supplies research and basic tasks associated with creating requisitions and forwards for approval. Coordinating facility repairs and ensuring facility repairs requests are recorded into the facilities management system. OR Education Substitution GS-07: Successful completion of one year of full-time graduate education from an accredited college or university may substitute for the experience required at this level. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise a year of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 18 semester or 27 quarter hours. OR A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may also substitute for the experience required. It is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (i.e., GPA 3.0 or higher of a possible 4.0, excluding pass/fail credits. Pass/fail credits cannot be more than 10% of total credits), or (3) honor society membership. Review Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) to see if you qualify under this provision. FOR GS-09 Experience:

You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Reviewing bills on a monthly basis to prevent overcharging and misuse and ensuring appropriate forms are completed for Personal Equipment and Clothing. Assisting with conducting various activities within the agency's Fleet card program to include ordering cards, performing audits, extracting reports, reporting fraud and processing override requests. Processing various environmental, security, and safety inspections and tracking assessment findings. Performing other duties as assigned. OR Education Substitution GS-09: Successful completion of a master's degree, two full years of graduate education leading to such a degree, or a J.D. or LL.B may substitute for the experience required at this level. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise a year of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post‑high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels, and may be computed by first determining your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS‑9. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
