Job summary

KBR is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to support the MSEIT contract at Space Systems Command. The role blends hands-on development with technical leadership across multiple mission-focused teams, emphasizing event-driven, cloud-native practices and DevSecOps integration.

The candidate will mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and collaborate with systems engineers and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable software solutions for national defense space capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive experience with distributed software systems.
• Strong full stack development across modern web and enterprise architectures.
• Expert-level Angular experience and backend services design.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

• Full Stack Development across front-end, back-end, and service layers.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance across teams.
• Define and evolve architectures for enterprise mission objectives.
• Design scalable event-driven architectures for distributed systems.
• Develop and guide enterprise integration patterns.
• Build modern UIs with Angular; design scalable backend services.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps to improve delivery pipelines and observability.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and design discussions.
• Work with systems engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to translate mission needs.
