Job summary

Vast in Long Beach is seeking a Staff Mission Operations Engineer to support the development of training programs and the human-in-the-loop testing required for certifying console flight controllers and astronaut crew members.

This full-time exempt role focuses on advancing Vast’s mission operations, training, and ground software architectures, ensuring safe, effective operations for gearing up a new spacecraft, with travel up to 20% and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in human spaceflight mission operations and training development.
• Master’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
• 10+ years in operation and training of complex spaceflight systems; on-console leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver training and human-in-the-loop testing programs for console flight controllers and crew.
• Improve training systems and ground software processes across mission operations.
• Translate customer requirements into operational concepts of operations balancing needs.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to test, deploy, and maintain systems.
