Job summary

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth seek a Staff Accountant to support the Province Office of Finance Administration in Nazareth, KY. You will handle Accounts Payable, Cash Disbursements, and Cash Receipts while applying GAAP to analyze financial information and produce reports.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and at least five years of related experience. The role requires strong integrity, accuracy, and the ability to work with confidential information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university; five years related experience and/or training in finance department responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to be bonded.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable: verify invoices for payment; code to general ledger accounts; prepare and issue checks; maintain check register.
• Cash Disbursements: initiate banking transfers; record as cash disbursement; manage monthly subsidy payments and department payroll.
• Cash Receipts: deposit cash receipts; reconcile bank statements; ensure proper coding and posting.
• Government Reporting and Benefits: prepare Form 1099s and 1096; awareness of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs.
• Financial Statements: prepare journal entries; monitor and reconcile ledgers; produce monthly financial reports.
• Record Keeping: maintain accounting records in compliance with policies.
• Audits: assist with annual audits as needed.
• Assistance: support POFA staff and other Congregation members as needed.
