Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid Tennessee teaching license with the appropriate content endorsement to teach or a valid out-of-state license that can be transferred to Tennessee within 90 days of employment.
• If you do not hold a teaching license, you may qualify for a Practitioner license while you complete graduate coursework, but you must enroll in an EPP program.

Responsibilities

• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required.
• The approximate school day for staff runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30-4:30 p.m.
• Effectively instruct students in assigned content area(s) as prescribed by IOTA’s academic standards with direct instruction and AV aids to engage learning.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team and align curricula to state and school requirements.
• Set clear short-term and long-term goals to drive instruction.
• Develop and submit weekly and long-range lesson plans with standards and assessments.
• Use data to evaluate pupil progress and report to parents.
• Create intervention plans for students as needed.
• Maintain school policies and discipline; report to administrators when necessary.
• Lead and participate in student activities and chaperone as needed.
• Abide by state and federal mandates in reporting abuse and neglect.
• Other duties as assigned.
