Job summary

Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks a Full-Time Mechanical Engineer GS-0830-12 to join the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron at Joint Base Charleston, SC. The role supports design, development and construction of facilities and infrastructure to execute the base mission, collaborating with 67 mission partners to deliver efficient projects.

Qualified candidates must be a U.S. citizen with a Secret clearance and an ABET-accredited mechanical engineering degree (or equivalent).

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required.
Obtain & maintain a Secret security clearance.
ABET-accredited mechanical engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 2 years of mechanical engineering experience in design, construction management, or lifecycle activities.
Experience with design parameters and project justifications/specifications.
Experience across architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural disciplines.
DAWIA requirements applicable to duties; current DAWIA certification is highly desired.
Knowledge of codes, standards, contracting regulations related to facilities engineering.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
Knowledge of environmental laws and funding restrictions.
Ability to prepare preliminary & construction drawings and convey design concepts.
