This regular part-time role (19 hours/week) entails serving meals, assisting volunteers, and maintaining cleanliness, with driving duties to support meal and supply transportation. The position emphasizes safety and respectful interaction with clients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum six months experience working with people.
• Ability to take directions and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
• Familiar with quantity food preparation, kitchen equipment and sanitation practices.
• Sensitivity to homelessness, chemical addiction, unemployment, racial and cultural diversity.
• Aptitude in oral communications.
• Trustworthy, especially in confidential matters.
• Ability to work with a team and accept supervision.
• Use Salvation Army word processing, email, and timecards.
• Valid driver's license and comply with state guidelines for Mercy Corps/vehicle use.
• Must pass background checks, pre-employment drug testing, and meet MVR qualifications.
• Support the Salvation Army mission and Safe From Harm training within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare facility meals in accordance with the menu and accommodate dietary needs.
• Serve meals to clients and staff according to posted schedule.
• Maintain kitchen and dish-room cleanliness and organization.
• Assist volunteers in their responsibilities.
• Drive a company vehicle to pick up and deliver meals, supplies, donations, etc.
• Meet and greet clients in a professional manner.
• Record temperatures of food before service.
• Complete cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Stock and rotate perishables and stock items.
• Maintain storage spaces and cookers.
