Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Food Service Assistant in Minneapolis to support daily kitchen operations, meal preparation, and dining room upkeep in accordance with health requirements. The role emphasizes teamwork, confidentiality, and sensitivity to clients in need.

This regular part-time position offers approximately 19 hours per week and requires a high school diploma (preferred), basic food-handling knowledge, and the ability to work with diverse clients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum six months experience working with people, preferably in food services.
• Ability to take directions and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
• Must be familiar with quantity food preparation and sanitation practices.
• Must pass background checks, pre-employment drug testing, and MVR qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily operation of a commercial kitchen and dining areas.
• Prepare and serve meals, and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Check and record food temperatures before service.
• Maintain storage and dish-room organization; assist volunteers.
• Drive a company vehicle to pick up and deliver meals as required.
