Job summary

Florida Diabetes Camp seeks an Executive Director to lead organizational strategy, fundraising, and operations from Gainesville, FL. This role partners with the Medical Director, Board, staff, and volunteers to ensure safe, impactful, and financially responsible programs central to the mission.

The Executive Director will oversee fundraising, governance, and year-round operations, building trusted relationships with donors, healthcare professionals, and community partners to sustain long-term

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
• Demonstrated success managing people, priorities, budgets, and stakeholder relationships.
• Meaningful fundraising experience including donor cultivation, grants, partnerships, or major gifts.
• Experience working with a nonprofit Board or volunteer governance structure.
• Strong financial literacy with budgeting, reporting, and planning.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate directly, manage conflict, and build trust across diverse groups.
• Strong organizational judgment, initiative, adaptability, and strategic thinking.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and culture that aligns with mission and safety standards.
• Oversee fundraising strategy and donor relations to expand revenue sources.
• Partner with Board to translate priorities into measurable goals and governance.
• Recruit, supervise, and develop staff and volunteers; foster accountability.
• Ensure sound financial management, reporting, and donor stewardship.
