Job summary

FDC seeks an Executive Director in Gainesville to lead strategy, fundraising, and governance for a volunteer-driven nonprofit serving children with type 1 diabetes. The role focuses on building systems, mobilizing staff and volunteers, and partnering with the Board to advance the mission.

The candidate will need 5+ years in nonprofit leadership, proven fundraising success, and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders across Florida. Travel and camp oversight are involved.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofits or mission-driven organizations.
• Demonstrated success in managing people, priorities and complex stakeholder relationships.
• Meaningful fundraising experience across donor cultivation, grants, or major gifts.
• Experience working with a nonprofit Board or volunteer governance structure.
• Strong financial literacy and organizational planning.

Responsibilities

• Establish clear priorities, accountability, and professional culture built on trust and transparency.
• Lead fundraising strategy, expand philanthropy, and cultivate new donors across Florida.
• Partner with the Board to translate strategy into measurable goals and oversight.
• Recruit, supervise, coach, and develop staff and volunteers.
• Oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and donor management.
• Ensure camp operations comply with safety, medical, and regulatory standards.
