Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to build secure, scalable data capabilities for a mission-focused platform supporting authoritative sources, analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities in controlled environments.

You will design, implement, and operate batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines, onboard new data sources, ensure data quality and lineage, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable data products for federal agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience with production pipelines.
• Strong SQL including optimization and analysis of large datasets.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar for data engineering.
• Experience with modern data-integration and workflow tools such as Airflow, AWS Glue, Spark.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS preferred) and data security practices.
• Familiarity with JSON/XML/CSV/Parquet data formats.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Onboard new data sources with schemas, mappings, and interfaces.
• Build data-quality checks with monitoring and alerting.
• Create transformations for analytics, ML, and retrieval workflows.
• Preserve data lineage, provenance, and audit trails.
• Implement secure data practices and access controls.
• Develop data models, curated datasets, and service interfaces.
• Automate deployments with IaC, CI/CD, and orchestrators.
• Optimize pipelines for scalability, cost, and performance.
• Troubleshoot distributed data systems and communicate fixes.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, security, and stakeholders.
