Job summary

Maximus is hiring a Biostatistician to lead the development and operationalization of advanced analytics, including predictive modeling, NLP, and LLM capabilities to support mission readiness and personnel well-being.

The role designs robust analytical and data engineering solutions, builds scalable ETL/ELT pipelines with SQL Server, Databricks, and Apache Spark, and delivers trusted data products with strong data quality practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3+ years of experience required, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Master’s or doctoral degree with five years of experience in quantitative science, social science, or a related discipline.
• At least three years of research experience in academic, social services, government, healthcare, or lab settings.
• Proficiency in Python or R for analytics, ML, and data manipulation with good software practices.
• Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience with SQL Server in analytics contexts.
• Experience with Databricks and Spark (PySpark) to build scalable data pipelines.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT, data modeling, data quality, and performance optimization.
• Experience producing decision-quality visualizations, preferably with Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and deployment of advanced analytics methods to derive actionable insights for stakeholders.
• Serve as data and analytic usage point of contact, defining appropriate use of statistical methods.
• Analyze data to identify trends and provide insights on operations and projects.
• Develop metrics and KPIs, update BI/Dashboards, and create new scripts as needed.
• Develop ad hoc tools to support analytics.
• Explore emerging technologies and systems for company initiatives.
• Lead end-to-end analytics projects from framing to production delivery and iteration.
• Architect scalable data solutions using SQL Server, Databricks, and Spark (PySpark).
• Fuse diverse data sources and ensure defensibility and reproducibility of data products.
• Implement data quality controls and optimize Spark workloads.
• Develop and deploy predictive models; communicate their behavior and impact to teams.
• Support NLP and unstructured data use cases with LLMs; understand agent workflows.
• Deliver decision-support products via Power BI and enable workflows with Power Apps/Power Automate.
• Provide technical leadership and collaborate with intelligence, operations, and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deploy insights through dashboards and semantic models.
