Job summary

Nominal is seeking a Mission Dev (forward deployed software engineer) student to join our team and work on software for complex hardware systems. You’ll collaborate with engineers building reactors, rockets, and aircraft, learning how customers operate and what slows them down.

You’ll create software that helps customers move faster while maintaining safety and precision. You’ll gain hands-on experience shipping features end-to-end, with mentors guiding you through problem understanding,

Qualifications

Solid engineering fundamentals and strong software development skills.
Hands-on software engineering experience through internships, personal projects, or academic work.

Responsibilities

Work directly with customer engineers to understand testing and analysis workflows.
Design and build integrations, data pipelines, and applications that connect Nominal to customers’ systems and handle high-frequency, high-volume hardware data.
Own projects from problem understanding to deployment and support, with mentorship from experienced engineers.
Release working software early, learn from user feedback, and iterate quickly.
Contribute learnings back to product and engineering teams to broaden impact across customers.
