Job summary

Nominal is seeking a Summer 2027 Mission Dev Engineer internship in Los Angeles or New York area. You will work directly with engineers on software that supports complex hardware systems such as reactors, rockets, and aircraft.

The role blends hands-on coding with product judgment to ship solutions that address real customer needs. You will learn customer workflows, identify bottlenecks, build data pipelines and integrations, and iterate quickly based on user feedback.

Qualifications

• Solid engineering fundamentals and hands-on software development experience.
• Interest in working with hardware systems and embedded processes.
• Able to learn quickly and adapt to new systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to understand testing and analysis workflows.
• Build integrations, data pipelines, and applications connecting Nominal to customer systems.
• Own projects from problem understanding to deployment with mentorship.
• Ship working software early and iterate based on user feedback.
• Share learnings with product and engineering teams to create reusable capabilities.
