Job summary

MITRE in Massachusetts seeks a UX/UI Engineer to design and develop user-centered software for mission-critical systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user insights into scalable interfaces and design systems that enhance accessibility and performance.

You will apply UX design principles, prototyping tools, and modern front-end technologies while engaging sponsors through workshops and reviews.

Qualifications

4+ years of related UX/UI engineering experience with a CS/engineering degree.
Experience with modern front-end tooling, CI/CD, and automated testing.
Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS and modern frameworks.
Accessible web applications compliant with WCAG and Section 508.
Proven ability to communicate design rationale to multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with engineers, designers, researchers, and sponsors to build user-centered software.
Advocate for end-user needs throughout the software development life cycle.
Provide technical guidance on architecture, performance, and UI decisions.
Design and develop user interfaces with user research and usability feedback.
Lead front-end development work and maintain design systems and components.
Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for cross-functional reviews.
Evaluate new technologies to improve user experience and mission outcomes.
Present design recommendations to project teams and sponsors.
