Job summary

The PENTA Building Group is seeking a Mission Critical Preconstruction Manager in Phoenix, AZ to lead preconstruction activities for data center projects. You will bridge design and execution, guide budgets, and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure feasible, cost-effective handoffs to operations.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in construction with 4+ years in preconstruction and strong estimating experience with local subs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction experience with a minimum of 4 years in preconstruction or a construction degree.
• 5–7 years of verifiable estimating experience with local subcontractors and market familiarity.
• Strong client relationships within the Data Center/Mission Critical markets.
• Fluency in reading, quantifying, and analyzing construction drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently on fast-paced construction projects with accelerated schedules.

Responsibilities

• Identify, review, and present potential mission critical project pursuits.
• Coordinate pre-project strategy meetings with the appropriate team members.
• Attend job walks and review bid documents for pursuits.
• Review project documents and develop notes by CSI section.
• Write or tailor narratives for project proposals.
• Perform detailed take-offs and develop internal pricing for scopes of work.
• Evaluate subcontractor proposals against project requirements.
• Implement bid strategies based on project documents.
• Assist in assembling full GMP or Lump Sum proposals with breakouts.
• Develop cost information that is organized, accurate, and timely.
• Develop subcontractor invite lists and ensure coverage for all trades.
• Liaise with subcontractors on pursuit requirements and timelines.
• Provide feedback to subcontractors after pursuit outcomes.
• Adapt preconstruction techniques to various delivery methods.
• Manage outside design teams and ensure schedule adherence.
• Communicate effectively with Owners and Owners' Representatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractor community.
• Lead a preconstruction team through iterative budgeting to optimize value.
• Assist in business development in the local market to reach new customers.
• Support project scheduling and logistics communication for pursuits.
• Perform other duties contributing to mission critical project delivery.
