Job summary

SpaceX is hiring a Data Center Safety Engineer (Automation) to lead electrical safety programs and automated safety controls for its Memphis-area, large-scale AI infrastructure and supercomputing facilities. You will oversee arc-flash analysis, LOTO, PE/UPS management, and grounding practices in a critical environment.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities, with expertise in FMEA/HAZOP, Ansys, PLCs, IoT, and scripting for automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience with electrical safety programs, arc-flash, LOTO, UPS, PDUs and switchgear.
• Hands-on data-center or mission-critical facility experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical safety programs including arc-flash analysis, LOTO and safe work practices on UPS, PDUs, switchgear, and generators.
• Conduct risk assessments of power systems, cooling, fire/smoke, energy storage and human factors.
• Perform FMEA, HAZOP and other structured risk assessments for critical systems.
• Ensure grounding, bonding and power quality monitoring to prevent damage or injury.
• Validate ATS and generator failover procedures from a safety standpoint.
• Develop and drill emergency response plans for power loss and cooling failures.
