Job summary

Janestreet in Chicago is seeking an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to join a highly technical team responsible for operating and maintaining our mission-critical data center infrastructure. This hands-on role supports live facilities while new data halls are constructed on the same campus, and is based at our Chicago campus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on data center experience.
• Deep knowledge of MEP systems and data center cooling.
• Experience with BMS/EPMS and monitoring tools.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain live data center environments.
• Troubleshoot cooling, power, controls, and monitoring issues at cabinet, pod, and facility levels.
• Support and maintain CDUs, RDHx units, and direct liquid cooling infrastructure.
• Monitor operations through BMS and monitoring tools, investigate abnormal conditions, and escalate with context.
• Review, execute, and improve SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs with internal teams and vendors.
• Plan and coordinate preventive and reactive maintenance, supervise critical work, ensure safe return to service.
• Act as primary liaison with data center provider and coordinate on-site vendors.
