SunSteel is seeking an Estimator in Vancouver, WA to analyze blueprints and specs to prepare labor and material estimates for stairs, design-build stairs, and miscellaneous steel projects.

The role supports the Estimating Manager and sales staff, requiring 2+ years of experience, an associate degree or equivalent, and proficiency with Tekla and Blue Beam.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required.
• Experience may substitute for education.
• 2+ years related experience required.
• Working knowledge of engineering and design concepts in structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
• PC skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Tekla, and Blue Beam for steel estimating.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and understand stair designs and codes to estimate projects.
• Prepare itemized lists and determine material and labor requirements.
• Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for planning, bids, and vendor selection.
• Consult with clients, vendors, or others to discuss and finalize estimates.
• Prepare scope of work with exclusions and conditions and list bid documents with dates.

Reports to: Estimating Manager Salary: $78,000 – $85,000 Department: Estimating- SunMisc Location: Vancouver, WA

Job Summary

Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare labor & material estimates for Stairs, Design Build Stairs, Misc. Steel products, light structural projects, or services and provides support to the estimating manager and salesman.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and understand stair designs and codes to be able to estimate small and large stair projects.
• Prepares Itemized lists by reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements.
• Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
• Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepares scope of work along with all exclusions, clarifications, and conditions. Lists all bid documents with dates used in preparation of estimate.
• Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard house and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
• Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Be able to do estimate design building stair packages.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, occasionally stands and walks, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to talk or hear. Seldom lifts and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

General office and constant exposure to computer display. Occasional interaction with production employees in the fabrication facility.
