Job Title: Estimator - Structural and Misc. Metals
Job Overview: The Estimator prepares accurate and complete estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects under the direction of the Senior Estimator. This role reviews plans and specifications, performs takeoffs, develops pricing, prepares bid proposals and identifies scope questions or drawing concerns before bids are finalized. The Estimator supports structural steel and miscellaneous metals scopes, including stairs, railings, gates and other fabricated metal components.

Job Pay Scale: $30/hr - $45/hr (dependent on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive assigned bid opportunities and review plans, specifications, and other bid documents.
- Perform takeoffs and develop estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals scopes, including stairs, railings, gates and other fabricated metal components.
- Prepare miscellaneous metals estimates for multi-family projects as assigned.
- Review drawings and details to identify scope requirements, missing information, conflicts and items requiring clarification.
- Determine pricing based on material, fabrication, erection and other project requirements included in the assigned scope and within Diamondback's pricing structure.
- Prepare clear bid proposals with accurate scope, pricing, exclusions, assumptions and supporting information for Senior Estimator review.
- Revise estimates and proposals based on review comments, clarifications or changes in project scope.
- Verify quantities, calculations and bid information before submitting estimates for internal review.
- Meet assigned bid deadlines and keep estimating files, takeoffs, drawings and supporting documentation organized.
- Develop drawings, sketches or takeoff support using CAD software as needed to understand and price project scope.
- Apply working knowledge of steel structures, miscellaneous metals, fabrication and erection when preparing estimates.
- Communicate scope questions, drawing concerns and potential bid issues to the Senior Estimator promptly.
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time related to estimating and preconstruction activities.
What We are Looking for:
- 2+ years of steel estimating experience (structural preferred)
- Steel Estimating Knowledge . Working knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals estimating or the ability to accurately perform takeoffs and pricing for these scopes.
- Plan Reading . Must be able to read and interpret architectural, structural and detail drawings.
- Fabrication and Erection Knowledge . Understanding of steel fabrication and erection requirements and how they affect estimating is preferred.
- Accuracy . Must be detail oriented and able to verify quantities, calculations, scope and proposal information.
- Organization . Must manage multiple assigned bids, deadlines and estimating files while keeping work current and organized.
- Software . Proficient with or able to effectively use Bluebeam, Adobe, Excel, Tekla and AutoCAD, along with additional estimating software as needed.
- Initiative . Must be a self-starter who can evaluate opportunities, identify issues early and proactively plan the next activity.
- Communication Skills . Must communicate clearly with leadership, estimators, project teams and outside parties regarding scope, deadlines, clarifications and bid requirements.
