Job summary

Covia is seeking a dynamic Utility Operator at our Pevely, MO sand mine and mineral processing location. The role ensures safe and productive operation of the plant, backfills operator positions, and assists the maintenance crew as required.

The successful candidate will work in surface mining, control rooms, labs, and outdoor areas, and must be able to work outdoors year-round and lift up to 75 lbs. Safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Literacy in English, both verbally and written.
• Previous mining operations experience, preferably sand.
• Experience with processing equipment used in sand production.
• Proven ability to operate heavy mobile equipment and identify risks.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate plant process machinery and mobile mining equipment.
• Backfill operator positions during planned/unplanned absences.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping; follow Covia procedures.
• Assist maintenance and perform preventive tasks as directed.
• Complete paperwork accurately and support production orders.
