Job summary

North American Mining, LLC is seeking a Safety Specialist to support the Safety Supervisor and Manager in implementing and administering the company’s safety programs. The role involves regulatory compliance, inspections, training, incident investigations, and promoting a strong safety culture across mine sites and offices.

The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree or 3–5 years in mining, MSHA certification, and strong communication skills in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree or 3–5 years mining industry experience.
• MSHA certification or prior MSHA experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist mine management in complying with all applicable Federal, State, and Company health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Conduct inspections of mine site areas to identify hazards and communicate findings promptly.
• Maintain regular interaction with on-shift crews to promote safety awareness and identify safety concerns.
• Conduct and assist with incident investigations.
• Deliver safety training including new miner and annual refresher trainings.
• Train employees on safe operating procedures and proper pre-operational and walk-around inspections.
• Maintain health and safety sampling, inspections, documentation, and records.
• Accompany MSHA inspectors and interface with regulatory agencies during inspections and investigations.
• Work with supervisors to evaluate operating procedures and company policies.
• Travel overnight as required.
