Job summary

International Minerals Carlsbad LLC is seeking a Mine Safety Specialist to support occupational health and safety programs at its Carlsbad mining operation. This role works with employees, contractors, supervisors, and operational leaders to identify hazards, manage risk, strengthen safe work practices, and support compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in occupational health and safety.
High school diploma or GED with 3+ years in safety in industrial/mining settings.
Working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
Ability to work safely in active surface and underground mining environments.
Ability to coach and influence employees without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

Maintain a visible field presence and engage workers on hazards and safe practices.
Perform inspections, observations, and risk assessments; identify and mitigate safety concerns.
Coordinate incident investigations and support corrective actions and documentation.
Support regulatory inspections and prepare draft responses with leadership.
Develop, deliver, and coordinate health and safety training for employees and contractors.
