Job summary

Metso is seeking a Field Service Technician based in Salt Lake City, UT to perform hands-on repairs, welding services, equipment installation support, and technical expertise for mining customers. This role requires extensive travel (≈85%) to customer sites and Metso locations to provide service, maintenance, upgrades, and training.

You will join a team of field service professionals dedicated to improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and maximizing productivity.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or high school diploma with related maintenance/welding experience.
• Minimum 2 years in millwright, mechanical maintenance, welding or heavy industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of mining equipment (crushers, conveyors, pumps, screens, mills).
• Ability to read drawings and engineering documentation.
• Valid driver’s license with DOT requirements.
• Welding certifications and field welding on mining equipment a plus.
• MSHA training and mobile equipment experience are assets.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, commission, and upgrade mining equipment.
• Provide technical support during demolition, installation, startup and commissioning.
• Perform millwright work: align gears, mill components, and complete mill change-outs.
• Weld, cut, fabricate and repair in mining and heavy industrial environments.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and propose corrective actions.
• Take precise measurements and alignments using specialized tools.
• Maintain service documentation, daily reports and customer communications.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, sales and internal experts to ensure outcomes and identify future opportunities.
