Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte is seeking a Minibus Driver (Part Time) to operate a YMCA minibus or van for program activities. You will organize routes, supervise passengers, and ensure safety for all riders, including children.

The role supports transportation services with a 15-passenger limit and requires ongoing training and adherence to YMCA standards. The position emphasizes teamwork, reliable record-keeping, and a friendly, professional demeanor as you contribute to meaningful YMCA

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license in their current state of residence.
• Must be approved as a YMCA Driver through annual motor vehicle record check and up to date training.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Mature individual with good moral character and integrity.
• Process clear communication skills with children, adults, co-workers and supervisor.
• Skills in working with children and help to make their YMCA experience meaningful.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the branch specific designee and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the Minibus Driver is responsible for driving a YMCA minibus or van for program purposes, organizing routes and rosters, and ensuring the safety of all passengers. This position will only be allowed to drive vehicle up to 15 passengers including the driver.

REQUIREMENTS:

*The YMCA of Greater Charlotte Requires all applicants to complete the following prior to their first day of driving

• Approval from the candidate for the YMCA to check their MVR. (Motor Vehicle Record)
• Completion of the Redwoods Defensive Driving online training course
• Behind the Wheel (BTW) training yearly. Year two is a ride along.
• Basic Safety Series and Child Abuse Prevention and all trainings and certifications in accordance with the pre-employment standards for all new hires.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work a flexible schedule with irregular work hours.
• Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
• Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
• Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
• Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
• Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
