Job summary

The Langham Chicago is seeking a Food & Beverage support team member to restock guestroom Honor bars, inventory storerooms, and prepare weekly item orders. You will ensure fresh products, proper stock rotation, and adherence to safety procedures in a luxury hotel setting.

The role requires prior F&B experience, strong English skills, and the ability to operate beverage equipment. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits in downtown Chicago.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education, training or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Prior Food and Beverage experience required.
• Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate.

Responsibilities

• Restocking all guestroom Honor bars on a daily basis, or as needed.
• Inventorying the Honor-bar storeroom on a weekly basis.
• Putting together a weekly order sheet of all items needed for the week.
• Cleaning and maintaining a well-organized storeroom.
• Properly rotating all stock items both in the storeroom as well as the carts.
• Checking the expiration dates on all items to ensure that all guests receive fresh products.
• Reviewing the Seal Verification Procedures.
• Make sure all bars have seals on them before securing the room.
• Completing a guest room security check list.
• Responsible for following the Key Procedure.
• Attending all department meetings as well as all employee meetings.
• Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
• Report duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.
• Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.
• Be fully versed in all Forbes service standards.
• Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Job description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

To provide friendly, courteous and professional service to guests in the hotel’s food and beverage outlets including but not limited to the Restaurant, the Bar, the Lobby Lounge, in Room Dining and the Club lounge, while maintaining high level of service as per Langham Hospitality Group and Forbes standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

• Restocking all guestroom Honor bars on a daily basis, or as needed. Knowledge of the correct setup of all bars, as well as following setup procedures.


• Inventorying the Honor-bar storeroom on a weekly basis. This includes all food and beverage items, personal care items, as well as gift items.


• Putting together a weekly order sheet of all items needed for the week. This must be given to the purchasing manager in a timely manner so all orders can be placed accordingly to assure that no products will be out of stock.


• Cleaning and maintaining a well-organized storeroom.


• Properly rotating all stock items both in the storeroom as well as the carts.


• Checking the expiration dates on all items to ensure that all guests receive fresh products. Outdated items are to be removed immediately from guestrooms and storerooms and reported to the purchasing manager for proper disposal/and or credits for the items.


• Reviewing the Seal Verification Procedures. Make sure all bars have seals on them before securing the room.


• Completing a guest room security check list. This will ensure that no rooms are left open.


• Responsible for following the Key Procedure. This includes signing a “key issue form” stating that you acknowledge your responsibilities for the key issued to you and the procedure to be followed in the event of theft or lost key.


• Attending all department meetings as well as all employee meetings.


• Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.


• Report duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.


• Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.


• Be fully versed in all Forbes service standards.


• Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Activities include standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, handling, grasping, lifting, carrying, seeing, hearing, talking, walking. Considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists as pertaining to pouring of drinks from bottles and shaking with shakers.


• Requires the ability to lift and carry object weighing up to 50 pounds.


• Standing for 90% of work shift is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverages preparation.


• Basic knowledge of POS systems, i.e. Micros.


• Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets and vouchers.


• Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.


• Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and other staff members.


• Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.


• Ability to work stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.


• Ability to operate beverage equipment: coffeemaker, iced tea machine, etc.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Any combination of education, training or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Prior Food and Beverage experience required.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate.

SALARY RANGE:

$21.60-$27.00/hour
