Job summary

Prairie State Energy Campus is seeking a Mine Training Specialist to develop, coordinate, conduct, and document comprehensive Part 48 training for surface and underground miners in compliance with MSHA regulations and Illinois mining laws.

The role requires experience in classroom, field, and hands-on training, strong leadership, and the ability to manage training records, certifications, and regulatory reporting to ensure a safe, compliant workforce.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Education, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent education, training, and/or significant underground coal mining experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible underground coal mining experience with supervisory responsibility for safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, conduct, and document Part 48 miner training for surface and underground miners.
• Conduct New Miner, Experienced Miner, Annual Refresher, Task, Hazard, Contractor, and other Part 48 trainings.
• Provide supervision and instruction during training and evaluate competency and qualification requirements.
