Job summary

Prairie State Energy Campus is seeking a Mine Training Specialist to develop, coordinate, conduct, and document comprehensive training for surface and underground miners under MSHA Part 48 programs. You will manage New Miner, Experienced Miner, Annual Refresher, Task, Hazard, and other mandated trainings, ensuring regulatory compliance and high safety standards.

The role requires strong leadership, a background in underground mining, and experience with training records, LMS, and regulatory

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent underground mining experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible underground coal mining experience with supervisory responsibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MSHA regulations, Illinois mining laws, mine safety standards, and underground coal mining operations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, mentoring, organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience providing emergency medical response in an underground mining environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct, coordinate, and document Part 48 miner training for surface and underground miners in compliance with MSHA regulations and the mine's training plan.
  • Deliver New Miner, Experienced Miner, Annual Refresher, Task, Hazard, Contractor, and other required Part 48 training.
  • Provide supervision and instruction during training and evaluate competency and qualifications.
  • Deliver classroom, field, hands-on, and computer-based training for new and existing employees.
  • Coordinate hazard training, mine tours, and onboarding activities; ensure safety orientations for all entrants.
  • Coordinate and administer mine rescue training, emergency preparedness, and response exercises in line with MSHA requirements.
