Job summary

International Minerals Carlsbad LLC is seeking a Mill Safety Specialist to support occupational health and safety programs at its Carlsbad operation. This on-site role collaborates with employees, contractors, supervisors, and leaders to identify hazards, manage risk, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

The ideal candidate has mining safety experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to coach and influence safe behaviors across the operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least three years of related safety experience in industrial/mining settings.
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or equivalent field is acceptable.
• Working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
• Certified Safety Professional or Certified Mine Safety Professional designation is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; familiarity with databases/recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible presence in the field and engage workers about hazards and safe practices.
• Perform inspections, observations, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate safety concerns.
• Serve as a safety resource on regulatory requirements, company safety rules, and IMC safety systems.
• Address unsafe acts/conditions promptly and coordinate corrective actions.
• Support incident investigations by gathering evidence and documenting outcomes.
• Coordinate and facilitate investigations after required training and monitor action items.
• Deliver safety training and collaborate with operations to implement safety improvements.
• Review and update job-specific safety plans and site procedures.
• Prepare responses to regulatory questions and support regulatory inspections.
