Job summary

ASARCO LLC is seeking a Safety Compliance Officer for Ray Mine to develop and improve safety and health programs. The role provides regulatory guidance, conducts inspections, delivers training, and supports emergency response.

Requires MSHA familiarity and strong communication with leadership across departments. It requires handling inspections, investigations, and documentation while coordinating corrective actions and maintaining records for regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible safety and health experience.
• Emergency response experience required (EMS, fire service, etc.).
• MSHA Part 48 Instructor approval or ability to obtain.
• Ability to interpret federal/state MSHA requirements and explain them to staff.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; report writing ability.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with Environmental, Safety, and Health Policy and site procedures.
• Provide safety & health support for mine areas; track corrective actions.
• Interpret MSHA/federal requirements and advise management on obligations and risk controls.
• Conduct safety inspections; document findings and verify corrective actions.
• Lead or assist incident and near-miss investigations; recommend corrective measures.
• Plan and document safety training for contractors and tasks.
• Accompany regulatory inspections and coordinate required follow-up actions.
• Attend meetings and integrate safety requirements into work planning.
• Support emergency preparedness and response and after-action reviews.
• Assist with industrial hygiene sampling and health hazard recognition.
• Review safety performance; prepare clear reports for leadership.
