Job summary

The Mine Engineer role supports mine operations with short and medium range planning, mine surveying, ore control, and geotechnical monitoring, while providing technical guidance to the Mine Department and other groups as needed.

Responsibilities include refining plans, chairing plan discussions, coordinating surveys and field activities, evaluating long and short term projects, assisting with budgets and equipment needs, and preparing accurate monthly production reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geologic Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • 1–2 years of mine engineering experience; internship acceptable for open-pit operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities; team-oriented.
  • Working knowledge of MineSight or similar planning software preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office, Minestar and JDE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, refinement and implementation of short and medium range mine plans.
  • Chair daily, weekly and monthly mine plan discussions with departments.
  • Coordinate or complete mine surveying and field engineering assignments.
  • Perform mine planning evaluations and assist with long/short-term projects.
  • Assist in developing accurate budgets and equipment requirements.
  • Prepare accurate and defendable monthly production reports.
