Job summary

The Mine Maintenance Mechanic at Mesquite, Equinox Gold's first operating mine in Imperial County, CA, is responsible for safe and timely repair of mobile mining equipment. The role focuses on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, drive motors, final assemblies, and electrical systems with preventive maintenance.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience in a mine setting.
• Ability to pass written and practical exam and obtain certification to operate a boom truck at minimum prior to advancing to the next level.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mobile mining equipment in a safe and timely manner as assigned by Shift Supervisor
• Utilize electronic computer-based programs for troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Perform preventative maintenance packets
• Able to utilize shop manuals and schematics
• Use proper rigging for hoisting heavy equipment components
• Troubleshoot and repair a/c system using manuals, gauges and a/c machine
• Test equipment to ensure proper repair has been done
• Safely move/maneuver large equipment (including 250 ton trucks, dozers, drills, and other) in close proximity to other equipment, persons and physical structures without endangering themselves or others due to vision (20/40 corrected both eyes) or hearing deficiencies
• Maintain a clean and hazard free work area

Job Summary:

The Mine Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the safe and timely repair of mobile mining equipment. Will perform troubleshooting and repair of the following components: engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, drive motors, final assemblies and electrical systems. Incumbent will also perform preventive maintenance as assigned.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mobile mining equipment in a safe and timely manner as assigned by Shift Supervisor
• Utilize electronic computer-based programs for troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Perform preventative maintenance packets
• Able to utilize shop manuals and schematics
• Use proper rigging for hoisting heavy equipment components
• Troubleshoot and repair a/c system using manuals, gauges and a/c machine
• Test equipment to ensure proper repair has been done
• Safely move/maneuver large equipment (including 250 ton trucks, dozers, drills, and other) in close proximity to other equipment, persons and physical structures without endangering themselves or others due to vision (20/40 corrected both eyes) or hearing (vocal and mechanical warnings) deficiencies
• Maintain a clean and hazard free work area

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5 years of mechanical experience in a mine setting, preferred
• With guidance, able to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mine equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral and written. Must be able to pass both a written and practical exam and obtain certification to operate a boom truck at minimum prior to advancing to the next level. Candidate may be required to operate service trucks and assist in fueling of mobile equipment.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed at an active mine site that may include open pit mining, processing facilities, leach pads, maintenance areas, and office environments. Employees may be exposed to extreme weather conditions associated with a desert climate, including high heat, cold temperatures, wind, dust, and occasional precipitation or flash flooding. Depending on the role, work areas may involve proximity to large mobile equipment, moving mechanical parts, blasting activities, noise, vibration, diesel exhaust fumes, chemicals, fuels, oils, airborne particles, or other industrial hazards typical of mining operations. Outdoor work on uneven or rough terrain is common for many roles. Employees mayencounterdesert wildlife and native plant life. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn asdeterminedby job duties, task hazards, and work location. PPE includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, and other PPE asdeterminedby job task and location.

Manual dexterity; handling and grasping; fingering and fine motor skills; speaking clearly; hearing in speech, radio, and environmental ranges; seeing, reading, and comprehension; near and distant vision; depth perception.While performing job responsibilities, employees must be able to communicate effectively and maintain situational awareness in an active mining environment.Physical activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, crouching, or working on uneven surfaces. Use of hands and fingers tooperatetools, equipment, controls, or computer systems isrequired. Specific physical demand requirements will be provided during the interview process. Employees maybe requiredto work while wearing the required PPE, including respiratory and hearing protection. The hourly range for this position is from $22.63to$29.15.
