Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Mine Maintenance Manager to lead their maintenance department in East London. This critical role ensures the reliability and optimal performance of all mining equipment and infrastructure. You will be responsible for developing and implementing proactive maintenance strategies, managing the maintenance team, and controlling maintenance budgets to minimize downtime and operational costs. The ideal candidate has a strong background in heavy equipment maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to safety within the operational context of the Eastern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance strategies for all mining equipment, including mobile and fixed plant.
• Manage the maintenance team, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
• Oversee the preventative and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment availability.
• Control maintenance budgets, manage spare parts inventory, and negotiate with suppliers.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety , and environmental regulations.
• Implement and utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively.

Requirements

• Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
• Proven experience in managing maintenance teams and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems for mining equipment.
• Proficiency with CMMS software and maintenance planning tools.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
