Job summary

Hecla Mining Company in Idaho seeks an experienced HVAC Technician to troubleshoot, repair and maintain heating, ventilation and refrigeration systems used in underground and surface mining environments. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspect and repair chillers, boilers, pumps and related controls.

The role requires a technical HVAC certificate, ability to read blueprints, and strict adherence to MSHA and safety procedures.

Qualifications

High School graduation or equivalent.
Technical certificate from an accredited air conditioning and refrigeration training program.
Type I and Type II refrigeration license to comply with Federal law 40CFR part 82, subpart F.

Responsibilities

Performs scheduled and un-scheduled maintenance activities.
Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, and related components.
Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units and heating systems including boilers and associated controls.
Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls.
Must learn and understand the underground chilled water system and condenser water system; install/repair services.
Calibrate and test systems; read blueprints and specifications for operation and repair.
