Job summary

Redpath is seeking a Hoist Operator to move personnel, materials and rock within mine shafts while maintaining safe hoist operation. Responsibilities include daily inspections, testing safety devices, recording tests, and operating controls per shaft signaling systems.

Qualifications require a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years in hoist operation, with knowledge of WHMIS, MSDS, and hoisting signals. Strong teamwork and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a hoist operator.
• Must be familiar with rock hoisting applications, as well as cage operations and shaft rigging and slinging practices.
• Ability to fill out log books and read, write and converse in the English language.
• Must know and understand the entire hoisting signal system as required.

Responsibilities

• Move gear in and out of the shaft and perform routine daily inspections on hoist.
• Test safety devices and controls and record findings in the hoist log book.
• Operate hoist controls in response to shaft signaling system.
• Assist in lubrication and adjustment of brakes and hoisting equipment.
• Select loads according to weight/size and hoist capacities.
