Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking a Mine Engineer to provide mine engineering, planning, and design support for its mining operations and mineral projects.

The role leads development of mine plans, economic evaluations, and capital project oversight to optimize ore reserves and production, while aligning with corporate standards. The candidate will mentor teams, drive best practices, and collaborate with operations, geology, and metallurgical groups to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant

Job description

Location: Ishpeming, MI. The Mine Engineer will provide mine engineering, planning, design support and leadership to Cliffs mining operations and mineral projects. The role will support optimum development of Cliffs' mines, ore reserve reporting and mining-related capital projects.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Direct, coordinate, and participate on mine planning activities and procedures to meet established plans, budgets, and targets of performance for Mine Engineering sections, and in accordance with Cliffs' policies and SEC rules.
  • Lead in mine engineering, and mine design contributions, to Cliffs' business development initiatives.
  • Lead in economic mineral evaluations, involving procedures of mine engineering, mine designs, economic mineral analysis.
  • Develop standards of essential planning activities of and for the Mine Engineering sections and install best practices.
  • Conduct audits on Mine Engineering activities to ensure compliance to Cliffs' Mine Planning Standards.
  • Facilitate reviews of the methodologies used to develop mine plans and economic models.
  • Coordinate as a functional interface between mine engineering and operations for execution and monitoring of mine plans.
  • Conduct initiatives to identify and resolve long-range planning issues.
  • Facilitate geology and metallurgical investigations with the intention of identifying geological drivers of metallurgical performance, control indicators, and long range development requirements.
  • Facilitate open and productive communication between Mine Engineering, its in-house suppliers and customers, and management.
  • Identify and facilitate continuous development of the Mine Engineering resources through training, mentoring, open communication, and experience.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering or related field. A minimum of 10 years' experience in Mine Engineering and Operations, with experience in leadership and management roles.
