Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to design/m specify mechanical systems, lead reliability initiatives, and optimize maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience in petrochemical, metals, or mineral processing.
• Knowledge of machinery design, statistics and project management.
• Experience with CMMS data for reliability analysis.
• Experience with predictive technologies: NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration, thermography, ultrasonics, and motor circuit analysis.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and influence cross-functional personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs and mobility requirements.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Designing and specifying mechanical equipment and systems such as piping, vessels, rotating equipment, and conveyors.
• Leading and supporting reliability improvement initiatives.
• Monitoring equipment health and plant reliability performance.
• Applying industry standards and codes (API, ASME, ANSI, and NACE).
• Conducting equipment failure investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA).
• Utilizing predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, NDE/NDT inspection methods, and motor circuit analysis.
• Reviewing maintenance data and CMMS information to optimize preventive maintenance programs.
• Supporting operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and technical guidance.
• Managing equipment reliability strategies and equipment resisters.
• Developing capital project justifications, budgets, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Coordinating with third-party reliability service providers.
• Establishing Key Processing "Best Practices" to improve profitability, including operating conditions, hardware change recommendations, monitoring process conditions, and unit performance reporting/comparison (benchmarking).
• Analyzing operational and maintenance equipment history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics and KPI's.
• Writing work orders and providing input to execution of work where required.
• Directing and coordinating the work performed by operating employees as required for new equipment installations or testing to ensure conformity to engineering design and specifications.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience with mechanical systems in the petrochemical, metals, or mineral processing industry.
• Knowledge of machinery design, statistics and project management required.
• Excellent computer skills with high proficiency while working within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and utilizes its functionality to correlate the data for reliability analysis.
• Experience in predictive technologies such as NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, and motor circuit analysis.
• Effectively communicate both orally and through written text.
• Ability to read and constructively influence personnel in cross functional groups.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities.
• Demonstrated equipment troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated skills with capital justification, budget development, expenditure and controls.
• Occasionally lifting up to 25lbs.
• Mobility required; must be able to handle stairs and long periods of work on your feet.
• Routinely exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather.
• Ability to work at heights.
