Job summary

American Axle & Mfg., Inc. in Michigan is seeking a Millwright Technician to maintain equipment, systems, and processes to support manufacturing production in a union environment.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, can read hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical prints, and holds a journeyperson card or equivalent documented experience.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of manufacturing experience, preferably in automotive supplier work.
  • Ability to read hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical prints.
  • Experience with metal removal, sheet metal fabrication, and welding (stick, MIG, TIG).
  • Equipment installation and rigging experience required.
  • Overtime and flexible scheduling per union facility rules.
  • Eligible to pass pre-employment physical and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment, systems, and processes to support production in a union shop.
  • Install, align, and troubleshoot mechanical systems and conveyors.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure safe, efficient operations.

As a Millwright you will perform millwright work within a union environment as dispatched to maintain equipment, systems, and processes to support manufacturing production.

Required Skills and Education
  • Three to Five years of past manufacturing experience preferably in an automotive supplier company
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical prints.
  • Experience with metal removal processes and equipment preferred.
  • Equipment installation experience required.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication required.
  • Proficient in welding - stick, mig, tig.
  • Ability to perform rigging requirements.
  • Experience in automation of conveyors (power and free) and material handling equipment, is required.
  • Ability to work well with others and in teams.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Possess a certified journeyperson's card (or similar contractual Journeyperson status) or document a minimum of eight years of experience in specific trade from previous employers on company letterhead.
  • Available to work overtime and flexible schedule as required within union facility agreement.
  • Available to work any shift as required.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical including drug testing.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check.
