Qualifications

• Basic shop math skills.

• Equipment selection: determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Repairing: repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
• Troubleshooting: determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
• Complex problem solving: identifying complex problems and developing options.
• Equipment maintenance: performing routine and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain mechanical equipment in a steel mill environment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and repair drawings.
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment for repair or transport.
• Move equipment to repair sites and align/machine parts for safe operation.
• Test units to evaluate mechanical performance.
• Observe safety regulations and use PPE.
