OVERVIEW
The Millwright is responsible for operating all basic machine tools and specialized variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform mechanical repairs to pumps, compressors, gearboxes, centrifugals, valves, and screw conveyors, etc.
- Machine components to specifications with high precision using machines tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
- Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools and specialized variation tools for precision machining operations
- Set up or operate metalworking, welding, or cutting equipment
- Use precision measuring tools including micrometers, vernier calipers, hand or spring calipers, depth gauges, etc.
- Inspect sample parts, read and interpret schematics, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances
- Prepare working sketches for product appearance illustration
- Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, layout, and machining procedures
- Support maintenance projects through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions and metal properties
- Troubleshoot, rebuild, install, and align pumps with different seal assemblies
- Dismantle equipment and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, or hoists
- Read work orders and interpret equipment manuals and specifications to determine machines
- Record all repairs and maintenance performed, including parts or materials used, and requisition new parts or materials as necessary
- Perform duties while observing safety standards and good housekeeping, including proper care of tools, materials, and equipment
- All other duties as assigned
WORK EXPERIENCES
- At least three (3) years of experience as a machinist in a shop environment or related setting
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
- Possession of a machinist toolkit set (e.g., micrometers, calipers, etc.)
- Preferred knowledge of CNC programming and operation of CNC milling and turning centers
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form
- Practical knowledge of fractions, percentages, ratios, logarithms, algebra, geometric construction, and trigonometry
- Ability to write clear instructions and communicate technical information effectively
- Proficiency in using engine lathes, horizontal mills, bridge ports, drill presses, and other machine tools
- Ability to pass verbal, written, and hands-on machining tests
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and basic instructions
- Must have or obtain a forklift certification
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Vocational training in machine shop equipment operation, assembly, and manufacturing preferred
HOURLY RATE
- Starting at $38.65
- Paid vacation and sick time after probation
