Ox Paperboard Illinois, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to support the paper mill and Production department, ensuring safety and minimal downtime. The role involves maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment, with a progression to Maintenance Mechanic after a successful probation period.

The position operates on a 24/7 schedule with weekly on-call duties and a starting rate of $28.10 per hour (paid weekly).

Qualifications

Maintenance Apprentice during probation, with promotion to Maintenance Mechanic upon rating.
Weekly on-call duties due to 24/7 mill operations.
HMI/PLC experience is desired but not required.
No vacation during scheduled shutdowns; holidays covered by seniority.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot Motors, MCCs, and AC/DC circuits; test fuses, wiring, and motors.
Troubleshoot and rebuild gearboxes, pumps, and rotating equipment.
Weld and fabricate guards, steps, framework, and piping in stainless and carbon steel.
Assess lubrication and equipment conditions visually.
Read mechanical and electrical prints.
Complete assigned tasks even if overtime is required to finish.
Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and forklifts.
Modify and install new equipment as needed.
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Rotates on-call weekly; respond to company-provided phone at all hours.
