Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking a Millwright for a maintenance role in the Chickasaw, AL area. The position installs, maintains, and aligns machinery per blueprints and drawings, reporting to the Foreman.

This non-exempt role includes night shifts and site safety requirements. Candidate requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–4 years of experience, potential NCCER certification, pre-employment testing, and post-offer drug screening.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–4 years of related millwright experience depending on level.
• Night shift position.
• NCCER certification may be required at some sites.
• Pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Safety requirements per client (PPE, etc.).
• Safety equipment provided (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, PPE).
• Applicant must not pose a direct threat to health or safety in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantle machines, move equipment, and install components.
• Align machines using reverse alignment method.
• Bolt, weld, rivet, or fasten equipment to foundations or structures.
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment; base-plate grouting.
• May operate engine lathe to finish parts; perform related tasks.

We are seeking a Millwright for a maintenance position in the Chickasaw, AL area. The Millwright position installs and/or maintains machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings and written instructions in industrial establishments. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

Essential Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Nightshift position
• Some job sites may require NCCER certification
• Written pre-employment qualification test
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Functional Requirements:

Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures; dismantles machines; moves machinery and equipment; assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines and blowers; aligns machines and equipment using reverse alignment method; assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures; may operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications; may repair and lubricate machines and equipment; may be involved in the grouting activity for equipment base plates; remove plant equipment, disassemble, repair and reinstall.

Compensation:

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:
