Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking a Journeyman Millwright for maintenance work at a facility in Houston, TX. Non-exempt role; reports to the Supervisor; performs a variety of routine duties within established policies. Ideal for candidates local to the area. Overtime and call-outs may be required. NCCER Plus is highly preferred and a background/drug test will be performed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Millwright; must have experience with centrifugal pumps, troubleshooting, rebuilding, seal changes, and pump motor alignment.
• NCCER Plus highly preferred.
• Background check and drug test required.
• Must be available for overtime and call-outs; 5/8's schedule.

Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains machinery according to layouts, blueprints, and instructions.
• Reads blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.
• Dismantles machines; moves equipment; assembles and installs equipment; aligns machines.
• Repairs and lubricates machines; may be involved in grouting base plates and reinstallation.
• May operate tools and light machinery to machine parts to specifications.

No Per Diem, ideal for candidates local to the area

• Must be available to work overtime and call-outs as needed, 5/8's work schedule; subject to change
• NCCER Plus HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Previous experience as a Maintenance Millwright with a minimum of 5 years of experience required; must have experience working with centrifugal pumps, troubleshooting, rebuilding, seal changes, and pump motor alignment. Overall ability to lead the job in repair and replacement of large complex rotating equipment.
• Background check and drug test required

General Job Description:

Installs and/or maintain machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, and written instructions in industrial establishments.

Functional Requirements:

Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures; dismantles machines; moves machinery and equipment; assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines and blowers; aligns machines and equipment using reverse alignment method; assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures; may operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications; may repair and lubricate machines and equipment; may be involved in the grouting activity for equipment base plates; remove plant equipment, disassemble, repair and reinstall.

Tools/Equipment:

Employee may be required to provide the following: tool box, combination wrench set, crescent wrench, combination square, socket wrench, allen wrench set, T-handle allen wrenches, Phillips screwdriver, screwdriver, micrometer, precision level, channel lock, dial indicator chains, hammer, ball pein hammer, snap ring pliers, rain suit.
