Job summary

Oregon Steel Mills is seeking a skilled Millwright to repair, install and move heavy machinery in our Oregon facility. The role requires reading blueprints, dismantling and rebuilding equipment, and operating cranes and forklifts.

We offer day-one benefits and an hourly wage with monthly incentive opportunities. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the USA and will join a team focused on reliability and safety across a busy industrial site.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Level Millwright or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to set up, tear down, and rebuild machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to operate mobile and bridge cranes.
  • Ability to operate forklift.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use computer programs.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, troubleshoot, install and move machinery using hoists, dollies, rollers and lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Reads repair documents, manuals, blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Dismantles machines, using manual, hydraulic, pneumatic, and precision tools of the trade.
  • Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, bearings, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand and power tools.
  • Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.
  • Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs and other precision tools.
  • Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structure, using hand and power tools.
  • Arc welding.
  • Track work/back-up roll bearing maintenance and repair using our maintenance management system.

Job description

This role offers a competitive hourly wage and monthly incentive bonus opportunities. Responsibilities

  • Mechanically repair cranes (overhead, mobile, rail and track).
  • Repair mobile equipment (rail, rubber tire and track driven).
  • Arc welding.
  • Track work/back-up roll bearing maintenance and repair using our maintenance management system.
Requirements
  • Journeyman Level Millwright or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings
  • Ability to set up, tear down, and rebuild machinery and equipment
  • Ability to operate mobile and bridge cranes
  • Ability to operate forklift
  • Ability to use all sizes of air impact and electric wrenches, all pipe fitting tools and equipment; i.e. sockets and ratchets, hoists, both electric and manual; jackhammer; cutting torches; welding equip.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use computer programs
  • Excellent written, oral communication and organizational skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Basic math skills, some exposure to Geometry, Trigonometry preferred
  • Valid drivers license required
Preferred
  • 4 years' experience in Heavy Industrial Plant Maintenance
  • Specific Training on Bearing Maintenance, Inspection and assembly
  • Ivara specific training to set up tracking programs with documents, tasks and procedures
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, ultra sound, laser alignment, etc)
