Job summary

Zepsa Industries in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Millwork Engineer to design, engineer, and support production of custom millwork, cabinetry, and metalwork. You will produce shop drawings, material specs, and CNC-ready files, interpret drawings, and ensure manufacturability, quality, and efficiency.

Collaborate with designers, project managers, and production teams, review RFIs, and contribute to estimating and QA throughout production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Wood Technology, Industrial Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in millwork, cabinetry, or custom woodworking engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD required; SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar preferred).
• Strong understanding of woodworking materials, joinery, hardware, and finishes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and interior design drawings.
• Knowledge of CNC machining processes and manufacturing workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and CNC-ready files for custom millwork projects.
• Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and design concepts.
• Engineer millwork components for manufacturability, structural integrity, and cost efficiency.
• Select appropriate materials, hardware, finishes, and construction methods.
• Collaborate with designers, project managers, production teams, and installers.
• Resolve technical issues related to fabrication, assembly, and installation.
• Review and respond to RFIs and design changes.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and client specifications.
• Support estimating by providing material takeoffs and technical input.
• Participate in quality control reviews throughout production.
