Job summary

Merric Millwork and Seating seeks a Drafter/Designer to create cabinet and millwork shop drawings from architectural blueprints. Ideal candidates understand custom cabinet manufacturing and design and will regularly interact with project managers, estimators, purchasing, installers, and shop personnel in preparing cabinet fabrication and installation.

Responsibilities include developing fabrication-ready drawings, BOMs, and cut lists, and ensuring alignment with design intent and manufacturing

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of millwork/cabinet drafting experience in CAD.
• Advanced knowledge of Cabinet Vision and/or AutoCAD/2D.
• Knowledge of AWI standards is required and IDA is preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of cabinet layout, millwork fabrication methods and materials.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints, sketches, and specifications to produce precise shop drawings for custom millwork and casework.
• Develop and prepare detailed, fabrication-ready drawings that align with design intent and manufacturing standards.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
• Prepare cut lists, BOMs, and other documentation for manufacturing, machining, and assembly operations.
• Proficiently use AutoCAD and be familiar with Microvellum or equivalent tools to draft and modify drawings.
• Generate approval drawings to be reviewed and signed off by clients before production.
• Apply AWI standards and best practices in millwork and casework drafting.
• Collaborate with PMs to identify discrepancies and required resolutions before drafting begins.
• Consolidate all drawings into a complete submittal package for client approval.
• Participate in Bluebeam Studio collaboration with PMs, drafters, and field teams for real-time updates.
• Revise drawings based on field measurements and redlines to maintain accuracy.
• And other duties as assigned based on the needs of the company.
