Job summary

Millis Public Schools is seeking Group Leaders for the Extended Day Program (before and after school). Shifts run from 2:30–6:00 p.m. with opportunities for extra hours on early release days and vacations. Candidates should be at least 18, enjoy working with children, and be reliable with good classroom management.

Starting rate varies by experience; prior child care or education experience is preferred. Citizenship/residency/work eligibility required. Located at Clyde Brown School, Millis, MA.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Availability 3-5 days per week.
• Preference for prior experience with children.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate play-based activities across arts, sciences, fitness, theatre, music, literature and cultural activities.
• Encourage all children to participate in planning and activities.
• Maintain safety protocols and keep spaces clean and orderly.
• Promote school and program safety and behavior rules consistently.
• Participate with children and encourage trying new activities.

Job Description

Positions available for Group Leaders in our Extended Day Before and After school program.

Hours: 2:30 or 2:45 p.m. to 5:00, 5:30 or 6:00 p.m..

Opportunities for more hours during Early Release Days, No School Days and Vacations. Hours vary.

Candidates must be available 3-5 days/week.

Must be a minimum of 18 years old and preference will be given to those with prior experience working with children.

Starting Rate of pay depends on experience and qualifications.

Candidates must:

• Enjoy working with children.
• Show warmth, caring and respect for all children.
• Be reliable. Demonstrate responsible professional and personal habits in working and interacting with others.
• Be positive, happy, enthusiastic and energetic.
• Be a good role model.
• Have strong classroom management skills and be comfortable leading a group of 6-10 children.
• Be someone very capable of taking initiative, but also adaptable to working as a team and accepting direction.
• Respond well to challenges with perseverance, flexibility and cooperation.

Responsibilities Include:

• Planning and facilitating play based activities in the arts, sciences, physical fitness, building, theater, music, literature, cultural ventures, etc.
• Encouraging and engaging all children in both planning and participating in activities.
• Maintaining all safety protocols at all times, including keeping areas and supplies clean and tidy.
• Promoting all school and program safety and behavior protocols in a consistent manner at all times.
• Participating in activities with the children and encouraging them to participate in something new to them.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSEThe Millis Extended Day Enrichment Program is a self-supporting, non-profit, public school program, for children ages 15 months to four-years with a school-age program for students in grades kindergarten through six. The Childcare Center, for toddlers and young children, has a classroom designed for the age group. The school-age programs each have their own classrooms and offer an educational enrichment experience to those needing supervised care when school is not in session. The programs take place the entire school year with a separate school-age Summer Program. Millis Extended Day strives to provide your child with an environment where she or he can safely explore, discover, create and grow.,
