GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking an experienced Turning / Mill-Turn Cell Lead to join our high-precision manufacturing team. You will lead daily operations in a state-of-the-art mill-turn cell, driving safety, quality, delivery and productivity while supporting the production of advanced performance components.

Qualifications

• Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing/metal-cutting with leadership or team lead experience.
• Strong CAD/CAM knowledge; Siemens NX preferred.
• Experience with Fanuc, Siemens CNC controls.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Collaborative with engineering, quality, maintenance and production teams.
• Self-starter with leadership and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a can-do attitude.
• Advanced 5-axis machining and mill-turn experience.
• Understanding CNC machining process and optimization.
• Understanding materials, cutting tools, and workholding.
• Familiarity with macro programming, CNC probing routines, setup reduction.
• Strong math and problem-solving.
• Ability to read blueprints and verify part specs.
• Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions on CNC machines.
• Measure and inspect parts with precision tools.
• Select and set fixtures/tools.
• Maintain process records and cell performance metrics.
• Promote safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations within the mill-turn cell to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
• Coordinate work assignments, machine schedules, and production priorities with the Shop Manager.
• Lead tooling strategy, machine setup, assist in CNC programming, and troubleshoot machining challenges.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to CNC machinists, assisting with setups and optimization.
• Maintain in-process inspection records, tool-life documentation, and cell housekeeping.
