Job summary
Smurfit Westrock Roanoke Rapids Mill is seeking a Shipping Manager to lead daily shipping, finishing, and warehousing operations. You will manage 28–31 hourly employees on a 12-hour, 24/7 schedule, directing loading of kraft and linerboard rolls by rail and road with safety and efficiency as top priorities.
You will coordinate with railroad and corporate transportation on loading plans, maintain training records, and drive continuous improvements in logistics, inventory, and supplier
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field.
- Minimum five years’ experience in supply chain, logistics, warehousing or related field.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems and shipping/pick & pack systems.
Responsibilities
- Oversee finishing, warehousing and shipping activities including safety, maintenance personnel and budget.
- Directly manage a team of 28–31 hourly employees on 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 operation.
- Directly manage hourly staff responsible for preparing and loading kraft and linerboard paper-roll shipments by rail and road.
- Develop loading plans to ensure safe, damage-free delivery.
- Ensure training needs are documented and current.
- Coordinate with rail and transportation teams on loading plans and trials.
- Collaborate with production planning to align machine scheduling with customer demand.
- Lead mill/logistics projects and inventory reduction initiatives.
