Job summary

ASARCO LLC is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to operate forklifts and related equipment, perform basic cutting and welding, and complete mechanical repairs on heavy machinery. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, overhead work, and working in cramped spaces and high temperatures within a mill environment.

Applicants should have basic English reading/writing skills and a HS diploma or GED. Training and overtime opportunities are provided, with an emphasis on professional growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with heavy machinery, mechanical repair and welding is needed.
• Ability to operate forklifts and related equipment.
• Basic cutting and welding abilities.
• Basic pipe fitting and threading knowledge.
• Able to walk stairs, carry tools up to 50 lbs, and reach/hold overhead loads.

• Ability to operate a Forklift, Manlift, Hydralifts and other related equipment.
• Must have some mechanical repair and/or welding experience on heavy machinery.
• Basic cutting and welding abilities.
• Basic pipe fitting abilities, pipe threading, different types of pipe.
• Must be able to walk some distance, upstairs and carrying tools up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to reach with, lift and hold overhead approximately 50 lbs.
• Must be able to swing a 20 lb. hammer.
• Must be able to work in cramped areas, on heights and in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work in high temperatures and in humidity levels (inside a mill, summertime).
• Basic ability to speak, read and write in English.
• Ability to use precision tools.
• Ability to understand schematics.
• Lubrication and oil knowledge.
• Trunnion bearing replacements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED.
